Journal Entry #2

I choose to read the essays entitled The Power of Comedy and Saying Thank You. At first I choose to read these two essays because I saw their titles quite interesting.
In both in the essays of The Power of Comedy and Saying Thank You, the writers used stories from their own experiences. They drew their ideas from past situation to give readers an understanding of each of their own topics.
The tone of both essays were reflective. They choose situations that really happened to them.
From what I read these essays were very similar each writer in their own way used each topic to up left other individuals in their surroundings, whether it was by saying thank you in a certain language or just making someone laugh.
Both writers followed the guidelines given for given.
Well for project 1 I don't really know what beliefs I would choose to write about, I just hope it is as good as these essays.

Hey I especially like the essay "Saying Thank You" my favorite part of the essay was the quote that the author said "Thanking someone shows appreciation for what they've done. Doing it in their own language shows appreciation of who they are". I think that having manners in general can make someone's day. Sometimes when people don't use their manners they come across as rude when they really had not intentions of being so. I believe that using manners also reflects the type of person that you are and the upbringing that was instilled in you.

i agree to that comment because people that mean well and are nice but come off with no manners at all are misunderstood and it does show lack of upbringing because when you show no manners its like acting with no emtion its just not how its supposed to be.

I like your insight that you were drawn to these essays because of the titles. Titles really do matter, and plenty of people have been turned off of good essays because of bad titles (or tricked into reading bad essays because they had cool titles). Of course, the same applies to blogs as well.

In academia, it's a bit of a joke that when you publish something, it should have a really good title because the majority of people will only look at the title and will never actually read your essay. This is especially true when you're looking for a job and people read just your resume. Sometimes, having a good job title in the past might be more important than what you actually did at the job.
